Today I am listing my Favorite Things, Part Two.

Part Two has a New York City twist.  My Dad grew up in New York, so my first taste of the Big Apple was traveling there when I was little.  Later, I was lucky to attend college and grad school in New York.  Without a doubt, my years at Fordham University were some of the best in my life.

Being back on the west coast the last four years, I know it is where I am truly meant to be.  But here are some of my favorite things from my New York City days.

Arthur_Avenue
The famous Arthur Avenue, in the Bronx.
Fabulous bakeries, grocery stores, and sandwich shops.

dunkin

I LOVE Dunkin Donuts Coffee.

NY_Times
All the News That's Fit to Print.
Started reading the New York Times in college, have not stopped since.

broadway

The Forbidden Broadway Sunday from Serendipity 3.

fordham

Keating Hall of Fordham University.  Graduation ceremony was held on this lawn.

Tree

One of my favorite books of all time.
What are your favorite things about New York?

  1. 'Tis the Season. I love Christmas in New York! The lights, the cold air, the people, it's such a fun time of year to visit.
  2. Two words: Little Italy. I love the food in NYC!
  3. I love all the wonderful Broadway shows. We always stand in line to get our tickets at TKTS. Serendipity 3 is fabulous, but I haven't tried the sundae (although it looks tasty). I'll have to try it on my next visit!
  4. Emily, you have some great things! How come I never got a one hour massage for $15??? My Favorite Things Part One is a few posts down. Anyone else care to chime in about their favorite things of New York?
  5. Ooh of course I have to latch onto Arthur Ave. and Keating Hall, too! My other favorites are: beautiful brownstones; the George Washington Bridge (used to have a view of it right out my apartment window- so pretty when they light it up for holidays); Riverbank State Park in Harlem; the 1/2/3 subway line (it's almost eerie how it always shows up right when I need it); tiny BYOB restaurants; cheap everything in Chinatown (5 dumplings for $1 and a half-hour massage for 15 bucks- I kid you not); federal courtrooms downtown (nerd alert!); sidewalk jewelry vendors; the Aveda Institute (full head of highlights, two colors, plus a cut and blowdry, for under $100); aaaaaand farmer's markets. Wow- and I thought I hated New York! Now I feel all positive and shit. PS- Where was "My Favorite Things: Part One"? I didn't see it.
